  • Welcome and intro (Wendy/Kate/Sue)

Sue raised concerns that BPCV was not evidencing enough strategic work and would require associate help put in place to receive the next grant funding.

  • What has gone well this year (Sue)

BPCV had done good work with our recent  Transition Workshop and the Rainbow Resource redesign.

  • Building capacity and increasing parent carer engagement in decision making (Sue)

BPCV will need associate support in place for the next grant funding with the aim of getting more parent carer views and more strategic participation.

  • Grant-holding by Contact – what this means in practice and support that can be offered (Sue)

Contact can hold the grant for BPCV if agreed by the steering group. Associate support can be put in place for reaching more parent carers and extra support with building more strategic participation with professionals.

Sue also pointed out that the grant could also be held by another Charity representing us and parent carers. Annie Carpenter asked whether Sporting Family Change, a charity who has close working ties to BPCV, could maybe hold the grant.

Sue Mennear will produce a Constitution of Grant to address questions around whether another charity could hold the grant (SM)

  • Q&A & decision from the group (All)

Sophie Sidonio proposed a written summary for the rest of the Steering Group who were not present today so that they may be able to have a vote.

  • Next steps – including any to be completed before 31/3

Sophie Sidonio suggested we make a decision today as to whether we proceed with Contact holding the grant or whether we make the decision to consult the rest of the Steering group. Sue, Kate and Wendy left the meeting and it was decided by attendees (Marianna, Jane, Sophie, Annie & Gay) that we should consult with the rest of the Steering Group before making the decision. Marianna will contact them with a summary for their opinions/votes ASAP (MZ)
